Supreme Court ruling: Cross River’s govt officials flood Abuja.

THOUSANDS of aides of the Cross River State governor, Senator Ben Ayade alongside other top government officials have left the state to Abuja where they are keeping vigil on the outcome of the Supreme Court ruling between their principal and Mr Joe Agi, SAN. Many of the aides who are anxious of the outcome of the case began leaving the state in droves to Abuja while the deputy governor of the state, Professor Ivara Esu left on Wednesday and the governor left on Thursday morning.
“I am not aware of any movement by the political class of the state to Abuja but we can only be upbeat and optimistic of a good outcome, so we are not anxious whatsoever”. Mr Linus Obogo, Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the governor said.
Investigation reveals that many of the aides decided to move to Abuja in expectation that the governor will win the case so they could be in the celebration train right from Abuja. “Oga, we have finished everything and we expect the ruling in our favour so we are going to Abuja to start the celebration here” one of the aides already in Abuja boasted. In the past few weeks the tension in the state has been high as supporters of the governor and that of Agi have been grandstanding with ach making claims that they will; take the upper hand in the ruling. Many groups have also been holding prayer sessions to ask God to grant a favorable outcome in the judgment to the governor. In the longstanding case, Joe Agi, is asking the court to sack Ayade for multiple age declarations and the matter has gone from the High Court through the Appeal Court to the Supreme Court which fixed 9th of December as date for the final ruling.
