Breaking: CBN grants Diamond bank approval to operate as National bank
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has granted Diamond Bank Plc, approval to operate as a national bank following its application for it. The bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Uzoma Dozie, said this in a statement signed by the bank’s Head of media, Ezechinyere Anyanwu on Friday in Abuja. According to Dozie, the move was part of Diamond Bank’s strategy to focus on Nigeria’s significant opportunities. He said that the change in the license means Diamond bank can expand product services to Nigerian consumers. Dozie said: ”With this approval the bank will cease to operate as an International Bank. “The re-licensing as a national bank supports Diamond’s objective of streamlining its operations to focus resources on the significant opportunities in the Nigerian retail banking market, and economy as a whole. “The move follows Diamond’s decision to sell its international operations, which included the disposal of its West African Subsidiary in 2017 and Diamond Bank UK, the sale of which

HENRY SEMENITARI Born on June 29, 1963, Semenitari, hails from oil rich Rivers State in the Niger Delta region attended Saint Cyprians Primary School, Port Harcourt, Rivers State in 1974. He moved on to Okrika Grammar School, Okrika, Rivers State in 1979, Enitonna High School, Port-Harcourt, Rivers State in 1980 and University of Lagos in 1987. In furtherance of his academic pursuit, he went to the International Graduates School of Management, University of Navar, Barcelona, Spain in 2000, Harvard Business School, Boston, US for Advanced Management Programme in 2007 and the Cambridge Judge Business School for another advanced leadership programme at the University of Cambridge, Cambridge, United Kingdom. Today, Semenitari holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Lagos and a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from International Graduate School of Management, University of Navara (I.E.S.E) Barcelona, Spain. Just in: Buhari Appoints New CBN Deputy Governor, others. President Mohammadu Buhari has confirmed the appointment and reappointment of some heads of parastatals. He appointed Folashodun shonubi as Deputy Governor Central Bank of Nigeria with effect from October 17 for an initial period of five years.
