INEC approves Mega Party name change

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved the change of Mega Progressive People’s Party (MPPP) name to Mega Party of Nigeria (MPN).

Hamisu Santuraki, the National Chairman of the party and the National Secretary, Alhaji Mohammed Shombi Kanze, confirmed to Daily Trust yesterday in Abuja that INEC approved the decision of the party members.

Santuraki said the party would meet to change its logo, after the proposed one was rejected by INEC.

INEC, in a letter of approval, said it approved the new name for the party in accordance with the relevant provisions of the constitution of the party.

Meanwhile, the forum of state chairmen who were also automatic members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party, disowned a purported national convention in Abuja organised by a former acting national chairman of the party, Olayinka Akanni.
