Breaking news: Power play delays Sending list of new cbn management team to senate.

The long awaited list of the new CBN management team would have been sent to the National assembly since January, 2017.

The delay is as a result of President Buhari insisting that the Central Bank of Nigeria, should henceforth operate with a board that is not headed by the Governor.

President Buhari since his medical vacation in London, has two times directed the acting President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo to forward the list to senate for there approval and confirmation, but has to put a stop to the directives because of the composition of the Board which must have a representative from every zone.

As a result of 2019 political consideration, the board Chairman is zoned to the South-East since the Governor is from the South-South Nigeria. The Governor is the former managing director of Unity Bank. Mr Henry Semenitari, who hails from Rivers State.

The former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria Prof. Charles Soludo who was earlier penciled down for the position of the (Chairman of Board) was suddenly removed in December 2016 from the list in order to avoid friction with the incoming governor who is seen as a very strict/core banker.

Insiders sources have confirmed to us that the list will be sent to the senate as soon as composition of board is concluded on Friday.

President Buhari last week directed the acting President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo to make sure the list is sent to senate on or before the end of February, 2017. He also directed him to release the list of board members for all tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
