Southern Kaduna Attack: Residents Still In Fear Of Fresh Attacks

Tension has continued to mount in southern Kaduna communities of Rimi, Kitakum, Ungwan Magaji and Kigam communities all in Kauru LGA of Kaduna state.

It is one week after gunmen suspected to be herdsmen carried out a coordinated attack that left over 32 people dead.

The gunmen invaded the four communities on Sunday, November 14, killing at least 31 persons, and burnt down over 100 houses and farmlands.

A visit by Channels Television to the area today, reveals that residents fled their homes to neigbouring communities in Nasarawa, Plateau and Abuja pending when normalcy will return.

Security agencies have also responded by deploying their operatives to the affected areas, but the people are scared of returning to their communities due to fear of fresh attacks.

The gunmen are said to have attacked the communities simultaneously when the residents were asleep.

All the four communities have been deserted, schools, shops and other economic activities have been paralysed while the few residents who have nowhere to go are being camped by the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) at a primary school in Chawai chiefdom.
